Dental Implants
Replace Broken or Missing Teeth
Although adult teeth are meant to last a lifetime, trauma or conditions may occur that cause them to decay, fall out, or require extraction. Many patients choose dental implants to replace missing or damaged teeth because they look and feel natural.
Dr. Graves and Dr. Wilkinson specialize in implant dentistry and using implant-based restorations to help more patients achieve a healthier and complete smile. If you have missing teeth or wish to explore your options for tooth restoration, contact Lubbock Dental Specialists in Lubbock or Amarillo, TX, today to schedule an appointment.
Why Choose Dental Implants?
Whether you need to replace one tooth or all of your teeth, dental implants can help you achieve a smile that looks beautiful, functions naturally, and improves your oral health.
Types of Implants We Offer
The right type of implant for you will depend on your oral health and the condition of your jaw bone. In addition to traditional implants and implant-supported dentures, or the 4-Hour Smile, we also offer other types of implants. Your oral surgeon will explain all of your options and determine the right implant for your restoration needs.
Zirconia Implants
A traditional dental implant is made of medical-grade titanium, while a zirconia implant is made of a ceramic, non-metal material. These implants are great for patients with metal allergies or who prefer a metal-free alternative to traditional implants.
Zygomatic Implants
Zygomatic implants are placed in the cheek bone instead of the upper jaw. They are an excellent option for patients who have experienced bone loss in the upper jaw and who may not qualify for bone grafting treatment.
The Dental Implant Procedure
During your first visit with Dr. Graves or Dr. Wilkinson, we will take 3D scans of your mouth and design your custom treatment plan. Prior to implant placement, we will talk about your options for anesthesia and help you choose the right option for your comfort.
The surgical procedure is performed in our office. After we administer the anesthesia, your surgeon will make an incision in the gum tissue and insert the implant post. Sometimes, we attach the abutment during this procedure. If not, you will need to return for a second procedure to uncover the post and attach the abutment.
We may place a temporary crown to wear while the implant heals. After the post fuses with the jaw bone, your restorative dentist will place your final crown, completing your dental implant treatment.
How Can I Afford Dental Implants?
We believe everyone deserves access to the oral health treatment they need. Our office accepts many different payment methods and there are financing options available to help you afford your dental implant treatment. The cost of implants varies for everyone. To find out how much your oral surgery treatment would cost, contact our office for a consultation. At this visit, we will provide you with a cost estimate for treatment and go over all of your payment and financing options.
Denture Replacement With Dental Implants
Dental implants offer many advantages that traditional tooth replacement options do not. While dentures or bridges restore the appearance of missing teeth, they do not restore full functionality. Removable appliances have to be taken out during meals, which makes many patients feel self-conscious. Some people avoid eating around other people entirely because they do not wish to take out their teeth.
With dental implants, your replacement teeth become a fixed addition to your smile. The implants stimulate the jaw bone to keep it strong, and you can enjoy eating your favorite foods comfortably again. Dental implants are also versatile and can restore as few or as many teeth as you would like. Through the 4-Hour Smile procedure, our surgeons can use several implants to support a fixed denture, providing you with a brand new smile in just one day. By choosing dental implants, you are choosing a healthier, more convenient solution for your smile.
Types of Anesthesia
There are many anesthesia and sedation options available to you.
